North America is one of the few remaining areas of the world where fur bearing wildlife still exists and is harvested to prevent over population which could result from lack of natural adversaries. The Conference on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) regulates this trade as does the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. Generations of farm raised animals are no longer able to subsist and survive in nature.
Over supply of wild fur bearing animals in nature can cause traffic jams on interstate highways, spread of contagious diseases among school children, and are a threat to the general public. In the city of Anchorage Alaska one or two human beings are killed by wild animals within the city limit each year.
